Inspired by our dear friend Dan's love of blueberry pie, this special pouch honors his memory and the kindness he shared with everyone he met. The cardinal on the back represents hope, love, and the reminder that those we cherish are never truly gone.

THE STORY BEHIND THE CARDINAL
The words below are shared by Ellen, Dan's wife, who graciously allowed us to tell the story behind Blueberry and the little cardinal on the back of this pouch.
When my husband, Dan, passed away on January 14, 2022, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, I noticed so many cardinals outside his room. Since that day, every time I see a cardinal, I feel it’s a sign that Dan is still with me.
Our story together began long before that. On May 27, 2004, Dan and I opened our neighborhood bakery, Sweet 16th, in East Nashville. We worked side by side every day, doing our best to make our bakery feel like home for everyone who walked through the door. Over the years, Sweet 16th became much more than a bakery—it became a gathering place where community was built, friendships were formed, and countless acts of kindness were shared. Giving back was simply part of who we were.
Dan’s favorite pie was blueberry, and to this day, whenever I see a fresh blueberry pie, it brings back memories of the countless hours we spent baking together, laughing together, and sharing our love with others through something as simple as a slice of pie. Those small moments have become some of my most treasured memories.

After Dan passed away, I searched for a way to continue the spirit of service that had always been such an important part of our lives together. That’s when I began volunteering with The Nashville Food Project. It has given me a meaningful way to stay connected to the community we loved so much while honoring the values Dan and I shared—kindness, generosity, and compassion.
Every meal served, every hand extended, and every act of service reminds me that love doesn’t end when someone is gone. It lives on in the ways we care for one another. And every time a cardinal appears—or I catch the aroma of a blueberry pie—I smile, knowing that Dan is still with me, encouraging me to keep going. - Ellen Einstein
